Homeopathy
A healthy outlook Even though interest in complementary health remedies is still relatively new, most are long established and highly refined. Homeopathy, which builds upon the body's natural ability to heal itself, has been widely practised worldwide for more than 200 years. Anyone who has been reluctant to take medicine for a minor ailment such as a headache, cough or cold will know that, while it takes a little longer, the body's natural curative powers do aid recovery. Homeopathy is an ingenious, scientific approach with treatments which stimulate the body's ability to heal itself. By considering the needs of the whole person, rather than just the symptoms of a particular condition, Homeopathy remedies the underlying psychological, emotional or physical causes of ill health - no two people are alike. Because it has constantly developed since being identified by German doctor Samuel Hahnemann in 1796, there are now more than 2000 medicines in the Homeopathic pharmacy. This gives Homeopathy the variety and flexibility to treat patients as individuals. No Homeopathic remedy has ever had to be withdrawn because of adverse side-effects. Homeopaths give their patients something valuable - their time. Because Homeopathy is holistic, practitioners must understand each individual patient's circumstances in detail. Initial consultations can last up to 90 minutes as the Homeopath gathers all the relevant information. You should expect questions about apparently minor health matters such as personality traits, your like or dislike of certain foods and where you feel best: at the seaside or up in the mountains. All of this provides valuable clues which enable the Homeopath to match a precise remedy to stimulate the curative powers of each patient. Remedies are usually in the form of tablets dissolved under the tongue or liquids. The Homeopath may also advise changes in your diet, habits or routine if they believe it will help your recovery. After first taking the remedy you should notice some changes. Initially the symptoms may worsen but this is usually only the remedy taking effect and you should soon feel the start of recovery. Alternatively, patients often experience an exceptional period of well-being and optimism. Follow-up consultations are usually at monthly intervals so that your progress can be monitored and remedies adjusted accordingly. The speed of recovery depends very much on the illness. One which is slow to develop, such as a stomach ulcer, will not disappear overnight but other ailments can be cured quickly. You must remember to be patient. This is a different form of treatment which does not rely on a quick-fix illusion of health by suppressing symptoms. It is better to wait a little longer and cure the route cause. This is the path to whole health. Common problems, regular cures Homeopathy has successfully treated the following ailments: PMT, menopausal problems,
insomnia, hay fever, panic attacks, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), asthma, eczema, ME,
psoriasis, ulcerative colitis, arthritis, depression, sinusitis, endemetriosis, together
with many childhood illnesses and behavioural problems. |
