Harriet Lansdown - Acupuncture at York Clinic

MSc, Dip Ac, MBAcC, MHEA

Harriet is an experienced professional acupuncturist, who is involved in acupuncture research and teaching. Her treatment style includes massage and heat, alongside the acupuncture itself.  She offers an individual treatment plan, which may include lifestyle advice, exercises and techniques to use at home. 

An interest in evidence-based research has led Harriet to be involved in acupuncture trials looking at back pain, irritable bowel syndrome, osteoarthritis of the knee and depression. In 2007 Harriet was awarded an MSc in Health Services Research at the University of York. Harriet is a member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) which regulates professional acupuncturists in the UK. The BAcC requires adherence to Codes of Safe Practice and Professional Conduct, compliance with health and safety legislation, full insurance cover and a mandatory CPD programme.

Acupuncture education is now at degree level and involves research, professional practice education, extensive understanding of Western medicine, a minimum of 400 hours in clinical practice as well as a deep and thorough knowledge of Chinese medicine. Harriet has worked with a number of teaching institutions in the UK and China.

Harriet  works for the British Acupuncture Accreditation Board (BAAB), and served on the Executive Committee of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC). She worked with the Code of Safe Practice Committee, helping to develop new codes for the profession in advance of statutory regulation.
