Reflexology
Reflexology is a ''holistic'' therapy which is both a science and an
art. It is a natural therapy, non-invasive, drug-free and complementary to orthodox
medicine. It works on the principle that every organ, system and structure in the body has
a corresponding reflex area or zone on the feet. Working on these reflexes restores
imbalances in the body and promotes physical, mental and emotional health.
During a Reflexology treatment, gentle but firm pressure is applied to
the feet together with soothing foot massage techniques. This disposes crystals of
calcium and acid which accumulate in the nerve endings of the feet, cleaning neural
pathways and stimulating the body to heal itself.
Reflexology improves circulation and nervous function, cleans the body of toxins, reduces
stress and induces deep relaxation, balances the whole system and revitalises energy.
Reflexology helps to create a state of well-being for the entire person. Order and harmony
are restored, the body, mind and emotions are brought back into balance. Christine Wilkinson is the Reflexologist at the York Clinic.
