How are the herbs prescribed?
The herbs are prescribed following an in-depth diagnosis determined by questions on symptoms, medical history and emotional factors. The herbs are usually taken in the form of a drink, which the patient prepares from a prescribed mixture of herbs. The treatment can last for several months, regular consultations are given to determine if there is a change in the patient's condition which will require the herbs to be altered.
Who can benefit from Chinese herbs?
Herbs are prescribed to both adults and children. The dose and duration of treatment is greatly reduced for children. Older people and patients with chronic conditions usually require longer periods of treatment, to rebuild their health and vitality.

How much will the herbs cost, and how long will I need to take them?
The average cost is approximately £7.00 per week supply. Generally the more severe and long-standing the illness, then the longer the course of treatment required.
There have been some cases of toxic reaction to herbs recently. Am I likely to be affected?
None of these cases have occurred in patients of members of the Register of Chinese Herbal Medicine, because treatments are from fully trained and regulated practitioners. You should always inform the practitioner if you have any liver or kidney disease.
Will I be able to take herbs in conjunction with a course of acupuncture?
Yes, very often the herbalist will recommend it.
Do symptoms return after ceasing treatment?
The treatment is intended to restore a balance in the system so that herbs are not necessarily required.
