Hippocrates said "Let food be your medicine….". It has been recognised for millennia that there is a close link between what we eat and the health problems we suffer from. Good nutrition is the bedrock of sound health, vitality and increased energy. It can transform how we feel. There is lots of research pointing to the effectiveness of nutrition in restoring health. Nutritional therapy aims to help you optimise your health by eating the foods that are right for you personally. It reveals how eating habits affect specific health conditions. It seeks to resolve the root cause of illness, not just provide symptomatic relief. You will be given a detailed and personalised programme of specific changes to improve your health. Even small changes can make a huge difference. Nutritional therapy can help a range of conditions, which make us feel unwell.
What is Involved in a Nutrition Consultation?
Prior to a one-to-one consultation, clients are asked to complete
a detailed nutrition and health questionnaire, which includes a
diet diary. After the initial consultation, which generally takes
an hour, the client receives a personalised programme for improving
their health, with recommendations on diet, supplements (if
appropriate) and lifestyle changes. Follow-up consultations
normally take place 4-6 weeks after the first consultation. The
average number of consultations is 2-3, but complex and
long-standing health problems may need more. In some cases
sophisticated functional health tests are used to help pin-point
the cause of particular health problems, such as allergy tests,
hormone tests, digestive function tests, stress and thyroid tests.
These enable very specific treatment programmes to be devised for
the client.
Cost
Initial consultation (this includes 1 hour face-to-face and preparation time before the consultation): £60 Follow-up consultation (this includes 30 minutes face-to-face and any additional research time if appropriate, together with supplement/test ordering and interpretation): £45. Clients can opt for an hour long follow-up session at a cost of £60 if they wish. Brief telephone and email support is included in these prices, but more substantial support between sessions is available to clients at a cost of £10 per 10 minutes.
