Acupuncture and massage therapy
Ben is an accomplished acupuncturist, who can integrate sports massage techniques to help target musculoskeletal pain. He also teaches acupuncture at degree level, which contributes to his informed and conscientious approach.
Ben studied acupuncture at the Northern College of Acupuncture and remedial massage at the Northern Institute of Massage. His career highlights so far include involvement with clinical research at York University, and having published work on acupuncture in the treatment of depression and neck pain.
Outside of the clinic, Ben works at the Northern College of Acupuncture, leading the Bodywork module on the acupuncture degree course. He’s also involved with the Prostate Leeds group, treating the side-effects of prostate cancer treatment. The group was formed by the attendees of a group acupuncture session at St. James Hospital where Ben worked for 5 years.
In the first session, you’ll discuss your presenting ailment in detail, and Ben will take a full case history, asking you questions about all aspects of your life, from your physical and emotional state through to your lifestyle. As part of your Traditional Diagnosis, Ben will read your pulses and look at your tongue. He may also palpate your abdomen to check for any tender areas or skin temperature differences.
As work and lifestyle are often contributing factors to many issues, he also offers detailed lifestyle advice, exercises, postural advice and stretch routines, individually tailored to help his patients overcome or manage any issues in the long term.
Ben’s approach combines acupuncture and massage, but these are also available as stand-alone treatments.

"I have been suffering from sciatica for the last 6 months and as I still had pain in my lower back and right calf muscle, I went to see Ben Elliot through recommendation of my chiropractor. After my first treatment, I noticed that my stubborn pain felt more comfortable and I could walk a bit more. The acupuncture treatment itself was painless so I was quite relieved. I am happy to say that I am also now off the medication from my GP. Thanks Ben."
