Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and EMDR
Tracey Patrick
Tracey is Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT), trained to offer a tailored approach that incorporates Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Compassion Focussed Therapy (CFT).
Background
After working as an occupational therapist in mental health for many years, CBT training was a natural progression for Tracey. She wanted to work with people in a way that would help them understand their difficulties, and develop practical skills to enhance their wellbeing. CBT, EMDR and CFT do this beautifully, and all three have a large evidence base demonstrating their effectiveness in working with common mental health problems.
These include:
panic
agoraphobia
depression and low mood
specific phobias eg. flying, heights, animals, needles/blood, claustrophobia
social anxiety
post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)
generalised anxiety (GAD also known as worry)
health anxiety
sleep difficulties
low self esteem
skin picking and Hair pulling
anger
work related stress
feelings of shame.

Sessions are usually weekly and will last 50mins. The number of sessions you’ll need is unique to each individual, but a rough guide suggests between 5 and 20 sessions.
In-between session work is an important part of CBT. Working alongside Tracey you will work out how the problem is being maintained, and what happens when we do things another way.
