WHAT TO EXPECT
Each treatment usually lasts an hour. We will discuss your presenting ailment in detail, and I will take a full case history, asking you questions about all aspects of your life, from your physical and emotional state through to your lifestyle. This enables me to draw a more complete picture of your condition than I’d have had by taking only the western disease label into account. As part of your Traditional Diagnosis, I will read your pulses and look at your tongue. I may also palpate your abdomen to check for any tender areas or skin temperature differences.
Once I have gathered all the information I need about your presenting signs and symptoms, and the factors that may have caused them, I work out how they all fit together into the unique pattern that is you.
When it is time to stimulate the acupuncture points, I may use needles, acupressure, moxibustion, Tui Na (Chinese Medical Massage) or Cupping Therapy.
Treatment is hygienic and safe. It is completely confidential. You will be informed of what is going to happen at each stage, and I will discuss treatment plans and progress with you at each session. If you are unsure about anything, please just ask.
This is your treatment and I want you to feel completely comfortable.
