Louise Coughlin

I am a Chartered and Registered psychologist with 18 years experience. Having worked in a range of settings including, NHS, private hospitals, the prison service and in private practice, I have developed a variety of skills to help individuals deal with a wide range of difficulties they may be experiencing in their life. I will spend time talking with you to understand your current struggles and to help you identify the root of the problem. In doing this we can work together to help you move forward with your life in the direction that you want, and in a way that you feel capable, and safe to do so.  My experience is specifically in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. I have worked with clients to enhance their self esteem, to overcome trauma, to help with relationship problems (on an individual basis only) to enhance problem solving and coping skills, to develop anger management skills, and to safely manage substance use. I have worked with survivors and perpetrators of: spousal assault; physical assault; and sexual assault as well as with clients with personality disorders and a range of mental health conditions.  I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and am a Chartered and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society.
