Fertility and pregnancy treatments offered at York Clinic

Acupuncture for fertility, assisted conception cycles and pregnancy

  • Alison Longridge – Ali takes a pragmatic approach, believing that there is no one way to achieve good health or a healthy baby. The key is to listen to and understand each patient’s unique position, and help them to create a package of care that enables them to achieve their goals. Supporting patients in this way means that Ali’s skills will integrate with conventional treatments like IVF and labour induction, as well as osteopathy, hypnotherapy, nutrition and herbal medicine.

  • Amanda Preston With her specialist training in the use of acupuncture for fertility problems, Amanda has helped many couples to conceive. She has attended many postgraduate courses on acupuncture in pregnancy, and is qualified to support you from conception to childbirth, safely. Amanda is a founding member of the Acupuncture for Conception to Childbirth Team (ACT) Yorkshire. ACT Yorkshire is committed to supporting women through all stages of fertility preparation, conception, pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum.

Herbal medicine to support fertility

Herbal medicine can be used to support your fertility. This can include 'unexplained infertility', when everything appears to be fine; male infertility and female infertility; low progesterone; recurrent miscarriages; high FSH levels and other hormone imbalances. Herbal medicine to support fertility is provided by Michaela Scott. It was one of Michaela's first successful fertility patients that persuaded her to train as a doula, so that she could support her at the birth of her first child.

Doula for perinatal care

A doula is an experienced woman who offers emotional and practical support to a woman or couple before, during and after childbirth. A doula believes in 'mothering the mother', enabling a woman to have the most satisfying and empowered time that she can during pregnancy, birth and the early days as a new mum. This type of support also helps the whole family to relax and enjoy the experience. Our qualified birth doula is Michaela Scott.

Massage for pregnancy and postnatal

Pregnancy massage aims to relax muscle tension and improve lymphatic and blood circulation through mild, targeted pressure. It addresses many common discomforts associated with the skeletal and circulatory changes brought on by hormone shifts during pregnancy. Standard massage techniques are adapted to cater for the changes to your body. For example, you’ll lie on your side rather than your back or front, and your bump will be supported by pillows. You can have a pregnancy massage at any time after your first scan, including after your due date. Pregnancy massage is provided by Michaela Scott.
